• Inspector shall verify that materials and systems used for firestopping have been tested in accordance with UL1479 and UL2079 and are exactly as identified on the inspection documents.
  • Inspector shall be permitted to enter premises to review inspection documents, to observe installation in progress, to inspect completed work and to perform overall functions relative to their duty as inspector.
  • Inspector shall identify and document fire rated assemblies on projects that are subject to installation of firestops.
  • Inspector shall identify, locate, and document all firestop penetrations for proper adherence to inspection documents, specifically the approved listed design standards.
  • Inspector shall not supervise or direct any aspect of the installation process.
  • Inspector shall verify and document that the firestops required in the inspection documents have been installed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Inspector shall verify compliance of firestop by observing the installation process and by taking and recording measurements of the substrates and materials being installed or by destructive examination of completed installations.
  • Inspector shall conduct a post installation inspection, which shall require a destructive type verification of firestop. A minimum of 2% but not less than 1% of each type of firestop. Destructed firestop shall be repaired by firestop installer. The repaired fire resistive joint that contained deficiencies shall comply with the inspection documents.
  • Any type of firestop that does not comply with inspection documents shall require repair or replacement and reinspection of that firestop plus one full additional inspection.
  • All observed deficiencies shall be documented and marked on inspection forms. In addition, inspector shall physically identify the location where required firestop has been omitted or where installed firestop does not comply with inspection documents.
  • Inspector shall advise AA and installation contractor of any deficiencies noted within one working day.
  • Once deficiencies are corrected, installation contractor shall notify the inspector. Follow up inspections shall be done at inspector’s next site visit.
  • Once building has been completed and all deficiencies have been corrected, inspector shall submit final report.
